Rules:

  1. All beef entries must be on grounds by 8 a.m.

  2. Beef cattle must meet all Kentucky health requirements.

  3. No more than two entries per person, per class.

  4. Registration papers must be presented to show committee.

  5. $5 per person entry fee

  6. Showmanship and Steer show is limited to youth exhibitors.

 

Classes

 

 

A.      SHOWMANSHIP - (Age as of January 1, 2008)

Senior (14 – 21 years old) – Plaque

Junior (9-13 years old) – Plaque

Novice (Under 9 years old)

 

B.      MARKET STEER CLASSES

Steers will be divided into three classes by weight

Premiums:

1st - $25, 2nd - $20, 3rd - $15, 4th - $10, 5th - $5, 6th - $4

      Grand Champion Steer - $100 (in memory of Mary Hicks)

      Reserve Champion Steer - $50 + Banner

      Woodford County Grand Champion Steer - $500/Banner (Sponsored by Woodford Co. Farm Bureau) + Paul Saunders Memorial Award/Banner (Sponsored by Paul Saunders Family)

      Woodford County Reserve Champion Steer - $250 + Banner (Sponsored by Woodford County Farm Bureau in memory of Roger Reeves)

 

C.      BREEDING CLASSES

Show order:

  • Angus

  • Charolais

  • Limousin

  • Shorthorn

  • Simmental

  • Woodford County Champion Steer

  • Other breeds – All other breeds and crossbreds.

D.      Heifer and Bull Classes

            Premiums:  1st - $25, 2nd - $20, 3rd - $15, 4th - $10, 5th - $5, 6th - $4

 

1.       Junior Calf (Jan 1, 2007-Present)

2.       Senior Calf (Sep. –Dec. 2006)

3.       Summer Yearling (May-Aug. 2006)

4.       Junior Yearling (Jan.-April 2006)

5.       Senior Yearling (Sept.-Dec. 2005)

 

E.  SUPREME CHAMPION FEMALE - $250, Banner

4-H / FFA Auction

To be Held in September

Woodford County Fairgrounds (Red Barn)

 

4-H & FFA members will sell beef & lamb ready for market.  Country hams cured by 4-H members will also be sold.  Projects will be sold to highest bidder on a per pound basis.  Cook-out Lunch prior to sale.
