All Participants must have a valid driver's license, social security number, and current mailing address upon registering.

 

THE NUMBER ONE CONCERN OF THE WOODFORD COUNTY FAIR ASSOCIATION IS DRIVER AND SPECTATOR SAFETY, AND WE KNOW DEMOLITION DERBIES ARE A DANGEROUS SPORT.  THE WOODFORD COUNTY FAIR ASSOCIATION ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY, LIABILITY, OR FAULT IN THE RESULT OF INJURY FROM ANY OF THESE EVENTS.

Special Feature - "Powder Puff" - 100% Payback

To encourage demolition derby participation, the Kentucky Association of Fairs & Horse Shows created a high point series to recognize and reward such participation. Participants shall be awarded points in the following manner when entered in a participating county fair program. 

20 points to participate in a derby

10 points to participate in the feature

10 points for 2nd place in the feature

5 points for 3rd place in the feature

15 points for winning the feature

 

Each County Fair must file an official report within 30 days following the event.  At the end of the county fair season, all reported points will be tallied and a first, second and third place determined.  Those winners will be invited to the Association’s annual convention where they will receive trophies and the following prize money:

 

First Place           - $1,000

Second Place       - $   500

Third Place          - $   300

 

Points will be counted for derbies held in the fair week only.  If there are multiple derbies held during the fair week, points will be summarized for each driver on the dates turned in as fair weeks.  Rain dates will be accepted if held within 30 days of the fair.

Any announcements take precedence over printed material.  Judges decisions are final.  Woodford County Fair Association, Inc., is not responsible for accidents or thefts.


 GENERAL RULES:

 

  1. It is unlawful to bring alcoholic beverages or controlled substances onto Woodford County Fairgrounds.

  2. No weapons permitted.  No one shall enter the Fairgrounds carrying a weapon of any kind.  This prohibition includes persons licensed, by state law, to carry concealed deadly weapons, and all other persons who are not law enforcement officers required to carry weapons to fulfill their duties.

  3. No exotic animals allowed on fairgrounds.  Pets are allowed as long as they are on leashes and are kept under control at all times.  If pet becomes unruly, owner and pet will be asked to leave and no refund will be given.  All competitive animals participating in the Pet Show should be retained on a leash or crated while on the grounds.  Dogs that are assistance animals are allowed.

 

Rules of Competition

1.      The Woodford County Fair has the right to approve or reject any entry.  Check your schedule for what type of automobile can run.  No vans, ambulances, jeeps, carryalls, limousines, or checkers allowed.  1980 and newer Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, and Chrysler. 1978 and newer for all GM.

2.      Remove all fiberglass panels, plastic panels, and glass, including windshield.  Remove all molding, rear seats, hood latches, factory gas tank, and all wheel weights.

3.      No welding on frame, seams will be checked.

4.      Shock bumpers should be welded, chained, or bolted or all.

5.      Quarters and fenders may not be welded or bolted.

6.      All doors must be welded, chained, or wired closed.  Driver’s door may be welded completely.  All other doors can have only two six-inch welds per seam.

7.      A four bar interior cage is recommended, no material larger than 8 inches.  This consists of bar along dash, second bar no more than 6 inches behind seat, third & fourth bar connecting bars one and two.  No floor or frame contact.

8.      Automatic drive shaft only.

9.      No distributor guards or skid plates allowed, whatsoever!

10.  Hood may be wired in 6 places with no more than 2 strands of wire per pole, two of which can go through hood, radiator support, and bumper.

11.  Trunk & tailgates may be wired, not welded in 6 places, two of which can be through bumper, two strands of wire each hole, no frame contact.  No trunk lids under rain channel.

12.  Mandatory to have two vertical bars in center of windshield.

13.  Bumper can be higher than 20 inches, none upside down.  You can replace aluminum bumpers with metal ones of any year.

14.  Doors should be painted white and numbered.  Roof should be numbered 24” x 2”.

15.  Gas tank to be placed in back seat secured and covered.  Please no plastic jugs.

16.  No spacers allowed.  No adding of leaf springs.  No blocked shocks, reverse shackles or welding of leaf spring together.  No more than 7 leafs per side.  Suspension must have bounce in it.  Nothing added above or below coil springs.

17.  Only one battery allowed – placed in passenger compartment, covered, and secured.

18.  A 10” hole must be cut in hood. 

19.  No engine swaps.

20.  DOT Stamped tires no bigger than 15”, but if cars came out with 16” rims only, they can be run.  No double casing tires.  If suspected, tires are subject to be broken down.  Fill with air only.  Cannot bolt tires to rim.

21.  If running electric fuel pump, must have shut off switch.

22.  Leave all VIN numbers in place. Do NOT try changing them!!

23.  Hood & trunk must open at time of inspection.

24.  Pre-run cars must have 12” inspection hole in trunk.

25.  Car must be brought to track inspection ready!

26.  Station wagons must remove all portions of rear seats and decking.

27.  No welded trunks, whatsoever!

28.  Top 3 cars will be reinspected and could possibly be cut.

 

Cars will only be inspected twice.  If still found illegal, you will not be allowed to run!

 Running of the Car:

  1. DOT approved racing helmet, goggles, and seat belts are required at all times while on truck.
  2. On fire will result in disqualification.  Fire extinguisher is recommended in car.
  3. All cars must have dependable brakes at all times and boundaries must be observed.  Driver must stay in car with all safety gear in place until red flag.
  4. One-minute contact rule enforced.  No double-teaming or sandbagging.  This will result in disqualification.  The last car to make contact is the winner.
  5. No deliberate driver’s doors hitting, but not using drivers door as a shield.
  6. Unsportsmanlike conduct will result in disqualification.
  7. Drivers are responsible for all persons in their company.
  8. All persons in pit area must sign in and purchase a pit pass.
  9. Complaints will be heard from drivers only – no wives, girlfriends, or pitmen.
  10. No children allowed in the pits.
  11. All participants must have seatbelts.

 

Points System for all 1980 and Newer

10 Points for Registering

20 Points for 1st and 2nd place in heat and consolation

50 Points for 1st in feature, 25 Points for 2nd, and 10 Points for 3rd

In the event of a tie on a championship night, tied drivers will derby it out.

Must run in at least 4 point events to qualify for championship.

 Mini-Car Rules:

  1. Wheelbase not exceed 100.5 inches for RWD, not to exceed 105 inches for FWD. No AMC’s.
  2. Four or six cylinders only.
  3. DOT stamped 13, 14, or 15 inch 6 ply tires if factory made.
  4. Two-wheeled drive unibody only.
  5. All rules to big cars apply to mini’s.
  6. No welded hatches, wire only.
  7. Car may be any year foreign or domestic.

 Pick-up Truck Rules:

  1. Any year full size, half and ¾ tons.  No 4x4’s or flatbeds.
  2. Bolts and body bushings on trucks may be changed.
  3. Trucks motor swap allowed.
  4. DOT: Any size or ply tire allowed.  No dual wheels or split rims.
  5. Cab & bed must be bolted or welded together.
  6. Truck bumper only.
  7. Gas tank must be in center of bed.

 1978 Newer Clean Up Rules:

  1. Motor swap allowed.
  2. 1978 newer Ford, GM, Mopar.
  3. Seams can be welded.
  4. All thread can be used in factory body bushings only.
  5. 1 Bar along dash, one behind seat.
  6. DOT Tires only.
  7. Shock bumpers can be welded.
  8. Mandatory to have 2 vertical bars in center of windshield (safety).
  9. Bumpers can be no higher than 20 inches.  None upside down.  Factory bumpers only.
  10. Trunk lids must have 12 x 12 inch hole cut for inspection.
  11. Gas tank to be placed in back seat.  Secured and covered.
  12. Cars must have bounce.

 Anything left out of rules will be left up to officials.  All decisions of officials are final!
